Virtual Interpreting

Remote interpreting that behaves like a professional in the room.

Video remote interpreting connects a certified interpreter to your meeting. It suits short appointments, distributed teams, and situations where travel time would delay access.

What this service covers

Is virtual right for this?

VRI works best when the visual field is controlled: a stable connection, good lighting, and a clear view of everyone signing. We prepare interpreters for your platform in advance so the first minutes of a meeting are not spent troubleshooting.

VRI is not the right fit for every situation. Assignments involving young children, DeafBlind consumers, sedation, or several simultaneous speakers usually call for an on-site interpreter. We will say so when we see it, rather than filling a request that will not serve the people in the room.

Best for

  • Telehealth visits and follow-ups
  • Remote and hybrid team meetings
  • HR conversations across locations
  • Training sessions and webinars
  • Customer support escalations
  • Quick consultations and check-ins

Choose on-site instead when

  • The appointment is long or emotionally heavy
  • A procedure involves sedation, or a DeafBlind consumer takes part
  • Young children or many simultaneous speakers are involved

Questions

Common questions

What do we need on our end?
A reliable connection, a device with a camera positioned so the interpreter and the Deaf participant can see each other clearly, and good lighting on faces.
When should we choose on-site instead?
Long or emotionally heavy appointments, procedures involving sedation, DeafBlind consumers, young children, and meetings with many simultaneous speakers are all better served on site.
Can VRI be scheduled in advance?
Yes, and we recommend it for anything important. Scheduled requests let us match the interpreter to the subject matter rather than to the clock.
